"Oh, Arceus its raining."
The boy moaned as a few drops of water hit his face as he looked up to the sky. Honestly, it was just a light shower, but the boy had certain dislike for getting wet. With every drop he would feel the sudden chill, which disappeared quite quickly, and he didn't like it. He quickly got out from his bag a rather worn out blanket, and covered himself in it. He draped it over his horns, to make sure that it would cover his entire head, and then over his shoulders. And started for the cover of the trees.
Raid, a Pidgey, soared through the rain. The droplets bouncing of her shiny feathers, barely hampering her flight pattern. She could see the figure that was her trainer, beneath a large tree, looking perfectly dry. That boy is such a baby, thought the Pidgey amusingly, as she watched the morph cower from such harmless rain. Really, Vulcan was being a pain in the butt. Instead of being able to move forward into the next town, now, they'd have to wait around. The pokemon dipped in for a dive, holding her wings inward as she descended towards her trainer. She landed with a soft bump on the forest floor, appearing to be a small lump of feathers, before bouncing onto her feet and making her way towards the Houndoom pokemorph, who barely gave a notice towards the bird pokemon, and simply shifted uneasily.
Cower was such a strong word. If he knew that was what the bird pokemon was thinking about him, he would've punched her on the beak. He'd simply call it, dislike for the rain. The feeling of getting drenched in water was not one he welcomed. After all, his clothing was shabby and taken, not bought, from wherever he could find them.
Raid, not enjoying the silence, gave a tug at the blanket, but Vulcan held firm, still ignoring the bird pokemon, eyes wide, looking out to the rain. She finally gave up, and instead fluttered on top of his head, right above the blanket and in between his horns, and nestled her body their. Yeah, we'll see how long you can keep this up.

As Vulcan stood under the shelter of a blanket and the trees with Raid annoying his as best as she could, another trainer was heading towards him. She had had the foresight to bring an umbrella with her on her journey, but she was still soaking wet; she had resorted to shielding her Growlithe with it to get him to stop complaining. The puppy had allowed her to pick him up to stop his feet getting wet, but he's whined constantly in Pokéspeak, so Adena had resorted to allowing herself to get soaked through and shivering while he watched his breath rise in mist while he remained dry.
Upon spotting Vulcan, Adena smiled, walking towards him. When she saw his face properly, her heat skipped a beat. He was so... pretty. She blushed, trying not to walk faster too obviously as she approached him. The presently unnamed Growlithe yipped a greeting at Raid, which of course Adena didn't understand. She spoke in plain English. "Hey, I'm Adena. Who are you? Any suggestions for my Growlithe's name? I was thinking something like Prometheus like Greek gods and heroes, but then Latiny type stuff sounds cool too," she smiled nervously.
ooc// Sorry for shortness, I'm being kicked off.

{xD} Vulcan practically jumped when the Growlithe was close enough and yipped towards him. His eyes wide, and was already thinking of running off, before he realized the puppy meant no harm, and that a girl was right there.
Hey, I'm Adena. Who are you? Any suggestions for my Growlithe's name? I was thinking something like Prometheus like Greek gods and heroes, but then Latiny type stuff sounds cool too,
He blinked back confusion, or at least tried to. He was pretty sure he was gawking too. His features turned to confusion, looking at Adena suspiciously. It had been so quiet just a moment ago, and he was quite sure that he and Raid had been alone just now. But then here behold, appeared a rather chatty girl. Actually, it was his utmost concentration at the rain that had kept him from noticing any presence that might have been around. He held the blanket closer to his body, as though hoping that it would turn him invisible and maybe the girl would just walk away.
That wasn't happening now was it.
She stared at him, or that was how he felt, and he could simple stare back. He racked his brain for how to break this awkward moment. "I'm uhh..." his voice cracked, momentarily forgetting the name he had bestowed to himself. "Vulcan." he finished, rather nervous of this sudden encounter. In his head he was swearing at himself for letting down his guard. The sandy-haired girl didn't seem like much of a threat, but what if she was? He'd be screwed before he could react.
Raid fluttered down from Vulcan's head towards the Growlithe, who was at least twice as tall as she was, but that didn't bother her. She had seen the pair coming a moment before they had actually arrived. She had seen Adena blush, though didn't really know what that meant, humans were such strange creatures. {Hello there. I assume your new to the place?} said Raid to the Growlithe.
Vulcan relaxed a bit as he saw his Pidgey go on and start a conversation with the Growlithe, but just a bit. He stood up, feeling short when he was just sitting, even while he stood, he could see he was a little shorter than Adena. "Uh, well, I'm not really good with giving names, but Prometheus seems okay?" a touch of uncertainty at the end. "How did you get here?"

Adena nodded as Vulcan mentioned his name, as well as absent-mindedly stroking the Growlithe's head. "Sure, I'll call him Prometheus, then." she replied, watching Raid try to start a conversation. Prometheus was happily being scratched behind the ears by his trainer, being the sort of dopey loveable thing who instantly adored everyone he met. He liked the sound of his new name, he liked this Vulcan whom he had just met, and he liked the Pidgey who had just asked him a question. The Growlithe's creamy, fluffy tail began to wag furiously, making Adena almost drop him before adjusted her hold on him so he was supported more securely.
Prometheus didn't seem to take much notice of all of that. He simply beamed at Raid. ~Heya! Yeppers, I'm new to all this; training, travelling, this route and all that. Hopefully I'll get used to it, plus I'm stronger than other Pokémon after they come out of the lab because a nice person gave my trainer five Rare Candies to use and she fed them all to me 'cos I'm her only Pokémon. Wasn't that nice? I hope she does catch another Pokémon sometime, though, then I'll have someone to talk to who can understand Pokémon.~ he yipped, glad to have someone to talk to who could actually answer him. Adena looked at him, wondered briefly what the two Pokémon's conversations were about, then looked up, a little puzzled at Vulcan's last question. She looked at her feet briefly. She had used them, right? "I'm pretty certain I walked." she replied, sounding quite certain of herself. "As in, I walked to this spot I'm in right now from the lab, where I got Prommy." she nodded, hoping that was what he had meant. There was something else pressing at her mind, but she wasn't sure if she'd sound rude saying it and so was a little afraid. The girl had to mention it at some point, and she supposed now was as good a time as ever. "You look like a Pokémorph... what sort? I think they're really cool... are you a Fire type, by any chance? Would you like to use my umbrella?" she offered, prepared to use a blanket of her own for Prometheus. "Then we could look for a wild Pokémon rather than just standing around, maybe?" she wondered aloud. Fighting alongside him would- no, it was battling in general she was excited for, not fighting alongside Vulcan. That would just be silly. At the mention of battling, her eyes flickered across the landscape for any sign of a Pokémon. She had no idea if any would be out; rain might make them flee for shelter, and she'd feel bad if she made them uncomfortable. Then again, rain might drive burrowing Pokémon from their burrows, and that would make them irritable and likely to attack, not to mention the fact that rain would attract Water types and maybe Grass types. There was a chance of finding wild Pokémon, she decided, but their chances for various species would be different than in other types of weather.[/blockquote]

Vulcan watched as the two pokemon conversed, the Growlithe seemingly in a middle of a speech, barks, growls and yips were exchanged, and Raid looked as though she was listening, or half-listening anyway. The bird looked rather aloof. He looked back to Adena, who was looking at him in return.
~Heya! Yeppers, I'm new to all this; training, traveling, this route and all that. Hopefully I'll get used to it, plus I'm stronger than other Pokémon after they come out of the lab because a nice person gave my trainer five Rare Candies to use and she fed them all to me 'cos I'm her only Pokémon. Wasn't that nice? I hope she does catch another Pokémon sometime, though, then I'll have someone to talk to who can understand Pokémon.~
In fact, Raid was barely listening but got the gist of what to Growlithe was saying anyway. The pup seemed rather excited of being out on the land. She knew little of the lab so she could only guess that nothing too exciting happens in there if Prometheus was this excited. {Oh, then I wouldn't want to mess with you.} said the Pidgey, humor in her tone. {I, a common Pidgey, would never be as strong as you.} She added, placing her wing in her head for dramatic effect. {Ah yes, a problem with these humans, can't seem to understand a word from us, to think that we can understand them and not the other way around.}
I'm pretty certain I walked. As in, I walked to this spot I'm in right now from the lab, where I got Prommy.
He looked down, rather embarrassed. Well, he was actually thinking more along the lines of how she had sneaked up on him but then it seemed too stupid to ask. He blushed a bit, perfectly visible on his pale skin, and rubbed his hands together. "Oh, " He decided to answer, not exactly wanting to give out that he had actually gotten surprised by her.
You look like a Pokémorph... what sort? I think they're really cool... are you a Fire type, by any chance? Would you like to use my umbrella? Then we could look for a wild Pokémon rather than just standing around, maybe?
He crossed his arms, looking displeased of Adena's discovery, it wasn't much of a discovery, he had at least hoped that they could avoid that bit about him but yeah, it was pretty hard not to notice. He ran a hand on his metal horns, feeling them cold because of the rain. "Oh no, I'm a Houndoom cosplayer." He answered cheekily, smiling. He was certain she would get the joke. At the offer for the umbrella, "That would be nice, I don't want to be stuck here forever, and at least I'd be with a pretty girl." He shrugged, eyes on the umbrella.

Prometheus was a little puzzled at Raid's behavoir at first, then he understood the humour in her tone and chuckled, tail wagging happily. She seemed like a nice little Pidgey, and the Growlithe felt he could get along well with someone like her. He might have to get more used to picking up sarcasm and all that, but he didn't mind too much, at any rate. The puppy was the sort of Pokémon who would be pleased and excited by anything and everything, meaning that right now he was in a very good mood indeed despite the rain. In fact, that detail was slipping from his mind as he was focusing more on the people in front of him and his trainer.
He yipped in response, Adena struggling to keep a hold on the energetic Fire type. ~You're, er, probably stronger than me; we've never actually battled anyone before. Plus commonness doesn't matter, does it? Like, I bet you could, er, beat a, um, Charizard some day! All hail Queen Raid!~ he performed an over-the-top bow, making Adena very nearly drop him and look at him with an expression of deep confusion until he licked her face, making her wipe the slobber off and turn back to Vulcan, not exactly thrilled with the contact with her Pokémon's tongue. At least the two were getting along, Adena supposed. That was better than them fighting. While Prometheus had size to his advantage as well as being one level higher and having good strong jaws, Raid would be able to fly easily out the way of his attacks and she somehow doubted he was exactly skilled enough to dodge a couple of good aerial Tackles. The Growlithe definately wasn't the most obvious battler, but she couldn't judge just yet. Besides, they'd train and become stronger with time. She was much more capable of recognising jokes to her fluffy companion, and laughed at Vulcan's. It wasn't exactly the easiest thing to hide, something like that. She perhaps laughed a little too much, but if that was disguised well enough her glowing red at being called pretty wasn't what you would call subtle. Part of her was at this point being reasonable and saying Vulcan was just joking around and complimenting her like a friend would, but the part of Adena that was an idealist and overly hopeful was telling her he meant it. She didn't know which to believe, but was aware that she was blushing and became embarassed, shuffling her feet a little. Looking up at the sky, she decided to change the subject. "Hopefully it won't rain for much longer. Maybe they'll be a rainbow. I hope so... by the way, did you come from Teima? I'm from Sinnoh, I came here after the Grey Storm." she stated. So many people had fled to this region when that dissaster struck. She wondered how the people back at home were doing. How the Pokémon were. People she knew who had become trainers and the like in other regions... how were they coping?[/blockquote]

The Pidgey winked at the Growlithe, quite enjoying the puppy's conversation, along with his antics. She fluttered on to Vulcan's shoulder, where she nestled herself against his face, making herself comfortable as she did so. {You must've led such a secluded life if you haven't done any battling yet? I'm a bit more experience, I've lived in the wild for most of my life, well, until this pea-brain managed to peak my interests.} She cooed to Prometheus. {"And Charizards are over-rated, douse some water on them and they cry."} She laughed, honestly hoping no Charizard were around to hear her.
Vulcan didn't mind the Pidgey on his shoulder. She had done this earlier, and it was actually quite comforting to have a warm body against him. For most of his life, he's had to be secluded, there wasn't much room for a friendly gathering in the facilities. Now in the open air, it felt like it was really a whole new world. One he'd have to figure out, step by step.
He simply smiled as she laughed, happy to have made someone a little bit more cheerful. He noticed her go red in the face, though knew nothing of what it meant. In battle, it would've meant exhaustion or anger, but they weren't fighting at the moment were they? So it rather puzzled him to see her blush, something he had yet to encounter. He noticed she looked to the sky, so he did too.
Hopefully it won't rain for much longer. Maybe they'll be a rainbow. I hope so... by the way, did you come from Teima? I'm from Sinnoh, I came here after the Grey Storm.
Hopefully, he thought miserably. He always felt so down whenever it rained. Was it part of his genes or personality? Either way, he didn't like it. "What's a rainbow?" He asked abruptly, looking back to Adena, a questioning gaze. "And, I don't really know where I'm from." He replied, giving it some thought. Well, he had only learned the region's name when he had asked someone. He had walked most of the way, rode a boat (a nasty experience) and somehow made it in one piece. "I guess I'm not from around here, I've kinda had to go a long way to get here." He shrugged. Sinnoh? Where's that? "Grey storm? Is that what you call that nasty gunk in the water?" He questioned. That was partly the reason why he had been feeling so off for the past few days. He had apparently drunk that Grey storm thing and had a terrible headache, it had passed, but he felt considerably weaker.
"And what does it mean when you go red in the face?" He asked, seriously curious. Too many things in the world that he didn't know. Argh.

Raid wasn't the only one who dearly wished that no Charizards were around to hear their conversation. It wasn't too likely, since this was Route One and Charizards generally belonged to stronger trainers or lived in the wild in tougher areas, but there was always the possibility. He gave a chuckle. ~'Course, it's easy for a Pidgey like yourself to use Water type moves, isn't it? Or perhaps you'd rather just use a nice Thunderbolt against one? I'm sure you're perfectly capable of all that.~ he replied, starting to get the hang of this sarcasm thing. At least, he hoped he did. He wasn't really one to judge. At the very least, he was having fun, and that was all that mattered. Adena's eyes widened in astonishment as Vulcan asked what a rainbow was. How... how could he not know? "Rainbows are beautiful arches that appear in the sky when it rains sometimes. They show every colour of the spectrum... you never heard the expression 'all the colours of the rainbow'? From top to bottom, there's red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo, then violet. I really hope there's a rainbow now, then you'll see what I mean." she explained as best as she could, very much aware that she probably sounded like she was describing something nonexistant to anyone who did not know about rainbows. The rain was lessening, so perhaps that meant there was a chance they'd see one. After Vulcan explained that he didn't know where he came from, Adena began to understand that he had grown up in harsher environments than she'd first expected. She'd known that as a Pokémorph he would probably have some troubles in his past, but to not know where he came from or what a rainbow was meant that he'd been seriously surpressed for some time. "Yep, Grey Storm's the water stuff." she confirmed. The thought of giving Vulcan a comforting hug came into her mind and quickly vanished, leaving her wondering why she had considered something like that. Vulcan was someone she felt could be her friend, but she'd only just met him, after all. At the last question, Adena smiled but inside was a little worried about how noticeable her blushing had been. She could always lie to him about this, but that wasn't the right thing to do if he'd been so confined he'd never had the chance to learn to understand people. "Going red... anger, I suppose, as well as stress or embarrassment. Maybe being shy, too. It depends on the situation and what the person's other body language is like. If you're around people long enough, you'll learn these things, so don't worry." she nodded, thinking. It was one of those questions which she knew the answer to but just couldn't explain it.[/blockquote]

Course, it's easy for a Pidgey like yourself to use Water type moves, isn't it? Or perhaps you'd rather just use a nice Thunderbolt against one? I'm sure you're perfectly capable of all that.
{I could probably spit at the Charizard or something. That will send them running for sure. I could just do a nice little rain dance but I don't think you or morphy over here would like that too much.} said the Pidgey, winking to Prometheus, looking to her trainer. He was a rather naive pokemon, fresh out of an egg and clearly no more experienced in life as a little Togepi. Still, she enjoyed the Growlithe's retorts.
Rainbows are beautiful arches that appear in the sky when it rains sometimes. They show every colour of the spectrum... you never heard the expression 'all the colours of the rainbow'? From top to bottom, there's red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo, then violet. I really hope there's a rainbow now, then you'll see what I mean.
Vulcan tried to absorb the idea. Colors in the sky? Other than the simple blue and white? Too hard to visualize for the boy. "I hope one comes out too, it sounds amazing." He said in awe, red eyes lighting up at the thought of seeing something new. "How do the colors get stuck in the sky anyway? It sounds like a multi-colored bridge." He murmured, still confused.
Yep, Grey Storm's the water stuff.
Oh, alright. So that was its official name. "It tastes horrible you know, that Grey Storm stuff. I had the bad luck of drinking some of it. Before then, I could lift a Rhyhorn straight off the ground, no problem." He said, boasting of his previous strength, smiling to Adena. He was well aware that normal people "But now, I can barely lift anything heavier than myself." He said, shrugging as though it were an embarrassing fact. He didn't know why he was opening up to Adena, a girl whom he had just met. Perhaps it was because he had no one to have a talk with ever since he had left the facility. Either way, she was a welcomed surprise, now that he had gotten over her sneaking up on him, he was starting to warm up to her.
Going red... anger, I suppose, as well as stress or embarrassment. Maybe being shy, too. It depends on the situation and what the person's other body language is like. If you're around people long enough, you'll learn these things, so don't worry.
He exhaled, a puff of dark smoke appearing and then faded with the wind. That meant he'd have to be around more people. Which he didn't find exactly something he wanted to do. Not when their initial reaction was freaking out. The only reason he had known what a cosplayer was was because some guy had mistaken him for one. He ran a slim hand over his horns, which he did often whenever he pondered over something. He looked to Adena as though she could set everything straight. "If I hang around with you, would I understand normal people better?"
Raid shifted her weight as she stood upon Vulcan's shoulder. This was perhaps the longest they had spent with another human being, and she was counting. Vulcan hadn't exactly been warm to her when they first met, heck, he even tried to chase her away. Raid fussed over the idea that Vulcan liked this human better than her.

Vulcan shook his head. Nope, a Rain Dance probably wasn't his best idea of a move to be used against him. ~I suppose I'd probably not be able to stand much water, either... some day I'll be strong, though. I'll be an Arcanine some day, and I'll be trained to deal with any silly little type disadvantages. But for now... I think I'll avoid fighting Charizards.~ he nodded, glancing up at the rain. Did it have to go on for so long? It was bad enough being cold, he didn't want to be wet too! The puppy wondered if Raid understood what it was like to feel this way about something. Flying types were weak against Electric types, right? Perhaps a thunderstorm would make Raid feel uncomfortable, then. Glad to have made Vulcan in awe of something, even if it was of the idea of rainbows, Adena tried her best to describe to him how they occured. "Er... I don't actually know why it happens. It's something to do with light on the moisture in the air, but I'm not sure." she shrugged. It was the kind of this you just grew up accepting, and she had never given that much thought. There was without doubt a reason, she just didn't happen to have a clue as to what it was. Her eyes did widen ever so slightly as he mentioned that he could have easily lifted a Rhyhorn before he had drunk the Grey Storm. For one thing, that meant he was a lot stronger than he looked, or at least used to be. Even being able to lift up someone the same weight as yourself was a reasonable acomplishment. Secondly, she couldn't help but wonder how he knew this. Had he ever tried lifting a Rhyhorn? She couldn't imagine any of those rhino Pokémon being all to happy with that. "I hope you feel better soon, then. Do a few exercises and eat a good diet and all that, then you should be back to normal." was all she could say, not being much of a doctor and wanting to show that she did feel sorry for his feeling uncomfortable. In answer to Vulcan's last question, Adena smiled and gave a shrug. "I suppose so. Talking with people is how we learn as a baby, so why not now? Also, I'd reckomend perhaps buying a headband so it looks like the horns are attatched to it and so people think you're just a cosplayer." she suggested, feeling his self-conciousness about his being a Pokémorph. It was weird how she now felt that she wanted to help this guy, while normally she'd probably grow tired of staying in the same spot due to her mental problems. Now, however, she was feeling and odd warmth in her heart, almost relief. It was like she was healing from an emptiness she didn't know she had, and it came with a strong desire to help Vulcan deal with anything that was bothering him. The rain had reduced itself to a little drizzle, tiny flecks of water streaking lightly down from the cloudy sky. It would most likely stop altogether soon. Looking at the ground and knowing how cold it was, Adena suspected that the puddles might just freeze over and cause further problems. On the bright side, that would mean that if it rained again it could turn to snow, and the ground would be dry enough for it to settle. Snow... another thing Vulcan might not have seen. "Have you ever seen snow before?" she asked this question while it was on her mind. ooc// I actually adore Vulcan! Him and Adena should definately have a nice walk in the snow at some point ^_^[/blockquote]
